Blog Relaunch: Changing The Blog Name to Jei's Crochet and More

Photo by Castorly Stock from Pexels

Welcome to my blog relaunch!

It has been years since my last post. I have to admit, I do miss the process of cooking up a project and sharing it on my blog! So now I'm back and I'm very excited about all the new stuff I have in store for everyone!

To those who are new, or had followed me from years before but may have forgotten, this blog was named Cutey Patuty Blog, which mostly focused on my love for crochet.

After creating and working on my blog, I also made other blogs discussing different subjects like fitness, blogging, and mental health. However, I never really pushed through with all of it due to my mental health. After seeking help and getting support and encouragement from my loved ones, I feel that I'm now in a better place and I again see the joy that I used to have in working on this blog

During the time that I was on a break, I learned a lot from the people I met, and I feel like I wanted to share the new things I've learned. However, I felt that the concept of my blog limited me to just posting about crochet. That's why I felt that I needed to relaunch the blog with a whole new concept! Although I will still be posting about crochet, I will also be sharing new things that I've learned during my hiatus.

I have also enlisted the help of my sister Ann so we can work on this blog better and more efficiently. She will be helping me manage the blog, and will also be writing posts about her interest in sewing and other things. With her help, we should be able to post more topics on a regular basis. So expect more exciting projects from us!

Venturing to Another Niche

With my new blog, I am incorporating all of the things that kept me busy when I was not around blogging;

  • We will cover more varied  subjects like baking, cooking, sewing, and more hand made stuff!
  • This will be properly scheduled so you will know what to expect that day.
  • My YouTube channel is also in the works!
  • We'll continue to share more free crochet patterns and tutorials.
  • We'll also be updating and improving old posts

I realized after everything that had happened that I still do love blogging. Not just for the followers and monetizing, but the joy of sharing is very important and fulfilling to me. I am thankful because I still have the chance to do what I love and that I have the platform do it. I also believe it’s never too late to relaunch my blog, and I hope you continue to support us!

New Year

New year, a blank slate, new chapter in life. 2013 is in the past and 2014 is our present. We should let go of the past and face the present. We should learn from our mistakes from the past and use this negatives to develope a beautiful pictures of the present.

I used to make New Years resolutions but most of the time I won't finish or after a few days I will abandon it. For this year, I will not make a resolution, but I will practice to make a small changes in life one day at a time. It is better to accomplish something small everyday and feel you accomplish something.

For my blog I am still sharing more free patterns, and finish some projects that has been in the shelves for a long time, one project at a time. I promised a lot in the past but did not accomplised anything.

If it did mot bring you joy, just leave it behind. Let us ring in the New Year with good things in mind. Let every bad memory that brought us heartache and pain go, and let us turn a new leaf with the smell of the new rain. Forget the past mistakes and make amends of this new year.

This is year the possibilities are endless, a new blank page that we can write a life changing, world shaping, winderful, purposeful, awesime, incredible, extraordinary and mind blowing 365 page book we should create a good one.

Happy New Year! From me Jei, Zion, Jericko, and Erika

How Crocheting Help My Depression

<crochet and depression>
Get out of the back hole of depression by crocheting
 I used to suffer from depression. But I self medicate so i won't suffer the ugly feelings of depression. I read a post (sorry but I forgot the link) and started crocheting and it help me to get out of the black hole of depression.

Crochet is a great craft because it takes you out of the hectic space inside your own head and gives you a focused activity. This can greatly ease the symptoms of depression. Crochet provides a relaxing, meditative place where the mind can rest. Moreover, it allows you to get excited about new projects and to be proud of the projects that you've created. Both of these things are beneficial for people who are suffering from depression. Depression can sap excitement so finding things that excite you is crucial. And depression is directly correlated with low self-esteem so it’s great if you can create products that you are proud of and that can help you feel good about yourself again.
"Every man has his secret sorrows which the world knows not; and often times we call a man cold when he is only sad" - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
The same traits that make crochet a terrific craft for people who are dealing with depression are also useful for people who suffer from anxiety and even extreme anxiety like panic attacks. The repetitive motions of the task are soothing. The task itself provides you with a focus for the brain so that your mind can ease up on whatever is making you anxious. In cases of social anxiety, crochet can provide you with a comforting tool to take with you when you go into public and to focus on when the surrounding environment makes you feel stressed out.
<Crochet in groups>
Crocheting in groups can help bring back your self esteem.
Crochet might not cure these conditions but it can help some people manage the symptoms. It’s a low-cost craft and one that is easy to learn so why not at least try it to see if it is something that can help you!

How to Bring Your Creativity Back

Does anyone suffer from crocheters block?

Have you suffered crocheters block? I used to have the same crocheters block before. But just following this tips I never had an episode of crocheters block anymore. Here are some tips on how to bring back the spark on your creativity.

1. Think about your crocheting while creating. It doesn't matter what your are crocheting and it doesn't have to be good, creating crochet, making chain with hook and yarn is practicing your skill in crocheting it teaches our brain to think that holding a hook and yarn not something held, but part of the hand.

2. The process of crocheting is the FUN, not the the result. It's about crocheting something , not about having something drawn. Learning new approach or figuring out how to crochet better, or thinking on how to explain the process of assembling the crochet project. Looking at the finished crochet project is wonderful to see but the process of making that project is priceless.

"It helps if you can treat your work as a refuge-an oasis of control and creative satisfaction in the midst of the bad stuff."

3. I am the audience. No other. The first time I started crocheting is for my own entertainment, when I am bored, and that's how it continued. Crocheting with the expectations of other people in mind can wreck inspiration and apply so much pressure, crocheting becomes just miserable and you can even call it work. When I crochet it looks good on my standards, is the only time I get anything good done.

4. Force yourself to live in the moment. What helped me here is my finished crochet project should be given away. It forces me to live in the moment..sort of. I am able to concentrate on the process of creating a crochet project rather than the results. And if you get something you prefer to keep, you always possible to to change your mind.

"Sometimes a block comes from having too much, not too little"

Summer Crochet Boy Shorts

Summer Crochet Boy Shorts

My creative juice has been drained in the last few days. I kept on thinking of a creative project that came from my own. I want to incorporate my love of crochet and DIY. Then suddenly a bright idea came out! I am going to make a crochet summer outfit for my daughter without following a pattern and a diagram. I am going to do it freestyle. Making a crochet boy shorts in reverse engineering.

I bought a cheap boy shorts underwear and deconstructed it.

<boy shorts>
Deconstructed Boy shorts underwear
Then I just follow the shape of the deconstructed boy shorts to make my own design. I always forget to write down the pattern of my freestyle projects. Next time I will share this to you guys.

<crochet crotch>
Follow the shape of the deconstructed boy shorts

I made a crotch, and 2 of the leg parts. I am still finishing the other leg part. I used 2 cotton thread held together. used a B hook for this project.

<crochet boy shorts>
The 2 crochet leg parts and the crotch

<Crochet_Boyshorts>

<slip stistch>
I used slip stitch to sew the boy shorts together.

I sewed the 2 legs together and I realized that I don't need the crotch any more. So I just sew the boy shorts together and here is the finished crochet boy shorts.
